Life is about
constant change
and so is the
new eatery,
Animal,
which recently
opened its doors
boasting a
delicious menu
created by The
Food Network’s
Food Dudes (Jon
Shook and Vinny
Dotolo). Change
starts at Animal
with the
rotation of New
York art on the
walls, or no Art
for that matter,
given whatever
week it happens
to be. Change
also comes by
way of a menu
that is dictated
by seasonal
ingredients
found fresh at
the farmer’s
market. And
pork. A lot of
pork, really.
Pig anyway you
can think of it.
Carnivores
rejoice.
With a new menu
every week, one
can find items
ranging from
American to
Spanish to Asian
cuisines. Some
of the recent
mouth watering
dishes include
johnnycakes
topped with foie
gras and
blueberry-plum
syrup; fried
soft-shell crab
atop watercress
and avocado
dressed in
pancetta
vinaigrette;
balsamic-glazed
country pork
ribs with warm
bacon potato
salad and a rich
chocolate crunch
bar sprinkled
with — yes —
bacon bits for
dessert. That
little number is
their signature
dessert, so
consider it a
staple in a sea
of variables.
As for the booze
hounds, you can
always come home
to the house
wine, ‘Animal
House’, because
that is a
constant too.
However, the
beer and wine
list is always
different, and
always with
affordable
choices of wine
by the glass,
carafe or
bottles
hand-picked by
sommelier Erik
Kelly.
In addition,
Animal will
be blogging
their old
menus
online; past
dishes will
be available
for
catering. Or
just for
remembering
how sweet it
was.
Animal’s
chefs have
stepped out
of the box,
out of the
cage, and
blessed Los
Angeles with
a new
concept
that’ll make
anyone
‘hungry like
a wolf.’ So,
follow your
instincts
and sniff
your way
into Animal
where you’ll
always find
a new
surprise.
