Life can’t be
that bad on a
sunny,
California
afternoon
sitting in a
breezy
restaurant with
an ocean view.
You really don’t
have anything to
complain about
when you’re in a
quaint Westside
shuckerie with a
crisp glass of
Pinot Gris and a
dozen half shell
oysters in front
of you. Are you
jealous yet? Oh…
I’m just
describing my
Wednesday
afternoon this
past week when I
visited the
newly opened
Blue
Plate Oysterette
on the bluffs of
Santa Monica, a
restaurant that
met all my
expectations,
leaving me with
nothing but
smiles. Days
like these
remind me of how
grateful I am to
be living in the
City of Angels,
and why our
population has
hit upwards of 9
million!
East Coast
inspired with
West Coast
beachy touches,
Blue Plate
Oysterette is a
spin off of
Jenny Rush
Morton’s Blue
Plate on
Montana. This
time she’s
opting for the
Cape
Cod/Hampton’s
vibe and she has
done it well.
From Longnecks
to Lunas, and
Lobster Rolls to
Chowder, BP
serves
everything under
the sea. Enjoy a
draught beer at
the bar while
watching the
shuckers in
action or relax
on their small
patio.
Blue Plate
brings you a
fresh and
accessible clam
shack menu with
nothing over
$20. Including a
laid back
atmosphere and a
friendly staff,
there is nothing
fishy about this
place. And for
all you homesick
LA transplants,
just close your
eyes, take a
deep breath and
you might
actually believe
you’re back home
in Martha’s
Vineyard.
