Here a Bouchon, There a Bouchon, Everywhere a Bouchon

Yountville, Las Vegas and, after much waiting and ado………Beverly Hills! Mention Thomas Keller and Bouchon, and well, the rest is foodie lore. People actually swoon over the mention of this Chef’s name and his trail of Michelin stars. Many would argue that he is currently the most famous Chef in America. Is he really that good?

Word on the foodie front is is yes; this is the best French Bistro in LA, well worth the wait, the hype and the price. The foodie world is quite a flitter. And I promise not to use the word foodie again!

As a gal raised on an Ohio farm, I will say that much of what is considered gourmet French food is the stuff we threw away, you know, the parts. N’est ce pas at Bouchon, here it is not about the parts. The menu at Bouchon is bistro simple, comprised of what you would expect in any French village; leg of lamb, roasted chicken, steak with frites, pan roasted trout, but all with the signature Keller flair, translate to, delicious. Of course it comes with the fancy French name; Croque Madame, translate to, toasted ham and cheese.

The style of this place is very Paris Brasserie; waiters in long white aprons, sommeliers hovering with vintages in their heads, mirrors, dark wood, and brass. It is a large space at 17,000 square feet, but only 40% of that is the dining room. The rest is kitchen, and the kitchen includes a bread room, one room for pastry, even vegetables get their own closet. Tours are given as asked for, and you should.

There are many reasons to come here; the food, the fame, the all out foodie fun of it, (yes, I used that word again!). Even just to sit at the signature curved zinc bar and gaze longingly at the raw seafood, of which one of everything should be eaten. Truly, this place is heaven for those of whom cuisine reigns supreme. And if the thrill of finding the perfect Foie Gras makes you quiver, then Bouchon is most definitely for you.
