Craft
is to true
foodies what
gasoline is
to cars –
when it
comes to
what
provides the
power to
move you, it
probably
does not get
much better,
or
expensive.
However, if
you are not
a blue blood
foodie, you
might find
Craft, to
use the car
analogy
again, like
a Bentley;
nice, but a
bit formal,
and stuffy.
And if what
revs your
engine is a
little old
school hip,
like a
cherry
Galaxy 500 –
know that
Craft is not
that.
But what it
is, works,
if you are a
fan of the
power lunch
spot for the
CAA fabulous
type, like
pretty
surroundings,
a celebrity
chef and
cuisine on
the fancy
side. The
cuisine is
not what I
would call
mainstream;
pork belly,
roasted
quail, sweet
breads, duck
confit –it
is gourmet,
and very
well
prepared.
The menu is
seasonal and
changes
often,
particularly
the side and
salad
offerings.
The wine
cellar is
well
stocked, the
clientele
well-heeled,
and the
staff well
versed on
the menu,
which is
good if you
need
specifics
about how
the Rabbit
Ballontine
is prepared.
Craft is not
for the
casual lunch
or dinner;
it is
serious
dining for
serious
people, for
serious
money –
seriously.
