Finally, a
neighborhood
type restaurant
and bar in the
Hollywood hood.
Essex
Public House
is a welcome
addition to the
boulevard,
serving up
“rustic American
fare” along with
a long list of
specialty
drinks, hand
picked wines,
and craftsman
beers. Open for
lunch and
dinner, this
place is
reasonably
priced, has a
cozy upbeat vibe
and a friendly
staff ready to
take care of
your every
libation and
culinary
request.
Décor wise, the
19ft ceilings,
exposed brick
walls and black
and white
checkered floor
gives Essex
Public House a
Chicago type
feel, along with
a wrought iron
steel bar that
has six flat
screen TV’s,
designed to
please thirsty
patrons and
sports fans
alike. The
enclosed patio
opens onto the
street for an
inside/outside
sort of
experience and
can accommodate
any sized group
large or small.
Satisfying and
tasty comfort
food with an
upscale zest is
served up daily.
Ingredients are
farm fresh, as
is the fish;
everything
really is
straight from
the local
farmers market.
Be sure to start
with the figs in
a blanket, yes I
did say “figs”,
delicious and
unique, served
with a goat
cheese sauce; it
is one tasty
fruit combo. The
pizzas are also
wonderful and
full of flavor.
Try the Enoki
Mushroom/Fontina/Baby
Potatoes with
Rosemary and see
for yourself. In
need of a little
more substance?
The Lamb Ribeye
or the Roasted
Wild Bass, both
cooked to
perfection with
a lovely
presentation
will surely
satisfy.
“Sometimes you
want to go where
everybody knows
your name, and
they're always
glad you came”,
lyrics aptly
describing the
service and
atmosphere here;
truly a welcome
alternative to
the bar/club
scene in
Hollywood and
definitely a
cool
neighborhood
hang. Cheers!
