London Is Calling – And It Is Not Shouting Four Letter Words
It would seem that Gordon Ramsay is a walking contrast – he is the foul mouthed, (and extremely entertaining) yelling madman running Hell’s Kitchen – as well as one of the worlds most renowned and talented Michelin starred chefs. Call it the yin and yang of culinary prowess, call it the dark and the light of a restaurant genius; whatever you call it, it works, and it works charmingly well during tea time at Gordon Ramsey at the London, his newest gastronomic offering.

Tea Time is a special time; it is not breakfast, not lunch, and certainly not dinner, though this place serves all such meals. Tea Time at Gordon Ramsey is reserved for those who enjoy and have the time for an afternoon respite between the 3pm and 5pm time slot. It is a delightful way to while a way a few hours of daylight– very civilized – served with a side of cool with a capital C.

The tea service is a fixed menu, all inclusive of the price – all you have to do is choose which tea you will be sipping while grazing the gourmet selections placed in front of you. The stunning spread is brought out all at once, but proper English etiquette dictates you start with the scones, and you will not be able to stop until every morsel has been devoured, particularly if you relish with the fresh Chantilly cream and house jam – one day blueberry, another, strawberry, every day, delectable. Four types of tiny tea sandwiches filled with yummy offerings such as Prosciutto and mozzarella with pesto butter, or Goat cheese, watercress and sundried tomatoes, a mini quiche and a sampling of 2 bite sized desserts for sharing round out an afternoon treat that is savory, sweet and all around sensational, truly a taste for every appetite.

The room itself is old Hollywood glamour meets modern; big round beige leather booths in the middle of it all just scream to be seen in. Gilded décor, light pink and blue hues accented by dark browns and lots of light create inviting ambience in spades, a perfect place for a perfect meal. The afternoon tea is a great way to sample the restaurant for a sampling of what it would cost you for dinner – so would it be fair to say you know what you are doing between 3 and 5pm?
