Leopard print
carpet,
lipstick-red
leather booths
and a Rat Pack
history give
MATTEO’S
that certain
ambience that is
not only seen,
but felt, the
minute you walk
through the
door. Classic
cocktails are
slowly sipped
while Sinatra
tunes play in
the background.
Why do they play
so much of his
music here?
Because the man
had his very own
corner booth,
table number
eight. There is
a reason (other
than the vintage
décor) this
joint has been
long rated as
one of LA’s
leading Italian
restaurants; the
food is
spectacular.
From an intimate
dinner for two
in the
downstairs
dining room to a
private party in
the townhouse
for 70, the fare
here is always
delectable. Menu
standouts
include the
Millionaire’s
Pasta; chunks of
Maine lobster,
pappardelle and
chanterrels...
yummy! And then
there is the
butternut squash
tortellini with
a brown butter
sage sauce, and
of course, steak
“Sinatra” is
always a sure
thing. But
really, any dish
is delish. Retro
character meets
contemporary
vibe is a
Matteo’s slogan,
and it describes
their clientele
as well.
Everyone in LA
comes together
at Matteo’s,
from
celebrities, to
studio
executives,
Westside mom and
dads to
Hollywood
hipsters. And
why wouldn’t
they? Leopard
print does have
that power.
