A Philly cheese
steak sandwich
with onions and
wiz, on Amoroso
bread. For
dessert, a
TastyCake; to be
exact, a moist
Butterscotch
Krimpet. Ah yes,
this is the kind
of lunch you can
have in South
Philly any day
of the week. And
now, thanks to
The South Philly
Experience
food truck, you
can too. Once
you are tweeted
with their exact
location. Which
is usually
somewhere on
Melrose. Unless
it’s not.
Street cuisine
is the newest
foodie fad, and
allows one the
caveman like
pleasure of
chasing one’s
food. Who needs
a dining
destination with
reservations
when you can
follow a truck?
This mobile food
frenzy is really
just an old
school throw
back, like
corner taco
trucks and lunch
wagons at
construction
sites, only
fancier. They
are everywhere
and can be
anywhere,
depending of
course on the
current drive
time on the 405.
The South Philly
Experience is
amongst the
newest curb side
fare to roam the
streets of LA.
They serve the
real Philly deal
right down to
dessert which is
a choice of one
of three hard to
find, gotta
love’em
TastyKakes,
another Philly
original.
Besides the
famous cheese
steak they offer
roast pork,
meatball,
chicken cutlet
and parmesan
sandwiches too.
This truck would
be welcome in my
driveway any
day! The prices
are reasonable
for such
delicious and
authentic food,
and certainly
much cheaper
than a trip to
Philly. And more
fun we are quite
sure too.
Rejoice
Angeleno’s. The
city of
brotherly love
just got a
little closer.
In fact, I see a
truck in the
distance with a
chocolate-covered
Peanut Butter
Kandy Kake that
has my name all
over it. You say
nouveau food
truck, I say
chuck wagon – it
is all good eats
to me.
