  Dining Guide
Under the Brentwood Sun

It has been said that Brentwood is L.A.’s Little Italy; with over a dozen Italian dining options in this small geographical area, it is easy to understand why. The best choice amongst all contenders for authentic Northern Italian cuisine is Toscana. Celebrating their 20th year in LA, this bustling trattoria serves up delicious classic dishes that keep everyone coming back for more. A favorite culinary destination with locals, celebrities and foodies alike, the Toscana staff has a knack for making anyone who walks through their door feel welcome – they treat everyone as family.

Their legendary wait staff, most of whom have worked at Toscana for many years, oft greet customers with a kiss on the cheek, recite daily specials in sexy Italian accents, and provide the type of service that makes people feel very taken care of. All meals at Toscana start with prinzimonio, a bowl of fresh, brightly colored vegetables with balsamic vinaigrette for dipping, compliments of the house. And all meals at Toscana should end with one of their mouth watering prepared daily desserts – if you are lucky it will be stelline, a star shaped crispy puff pastry cookie. What you eat in between will always be tasty and the perfect choice, from one of their signature thin crusted pizzas, to the juicy 26 ounce bistecca Fiorentina, to their famous branzino, a delicate sea bass flown in from the Mediterranean, to pastas, to risottos; everything is delectable.

This place is always packed to standing room only capacity. Even with the reservation you made weeks in advance, you will probably have to wait, but how bad could that be while sipping a fabulous glass of wine, chosen from their over 30 by the glass and 300 by the bottle selections? So impressive is their international wine list, they have been awarded the Wine Spectator Best of Award Excellence for 2009. And once you have eaten, you will not care how long you had to wait; the food is that good. The hard part will be waiting until you can come back again.
