Martinis, Steak & Cake – Oh My!

Sure, discovering a new restaurant is always exciting, but sometimes it is the comfort of an old friend that we crave. Such is the Valley Inn; enter and let the oh so cool old school vibe wash over you. Relax and settle in to one of the cozy leather booths and order up a favorite off the menu that you know and love, like a Shrimp Louie Salad complete with their tasty house made thousand island dressing or some Old-Fashioned Pot Roast, if there is any left, as this is indeed one of their biggest sellers and a house specialty. For a lighter lunch, you can never go wrong with the Sesame Peppercorn Crusted Ahi Tuna, truly one of the best in the city.

If the hour you visit just happens to be happy, know that this spot is known for their martinis and the friendly regulars who gather at the late 1800’s custom crafted bar imported from England. It is quite unique, just like time spent enjoying some liquid libations at this locale. Menu specials are available at the bar for some noshing and nibbling.

Dinner is served every evening with emphasis on the classics of white table cloth dining; a shrimp cocktail and an iceberg wedge salad followed by a great steak is easy to do here and very delicious to eat here. With a dirty martini on the side and red velvet cake for dessert, well, your evening will be complete.

You may be greeted at the door by the owner Sophia, or perhaps she will stop by your table for a visit, as she comes to know most of the regulars by name. And quite frankly, after just one visit, you will want to be one too. There is a reason the Valley Inn has been a Valley institution since 1947, and many more why it will continue to be. So if you have never been, go. And if it has been awhile, make a return visit. I know this Valley gal loves this place, and chances are, you will too.
